Longines has been the pioneer of the Flyback function. Actually Longines equipped its first models with a flyback function in 1925 and filed a patent for this on 12 June 1935. The patent went on to be registered on 16 June 1936: a world first. The particular advantage of flyback is that it gives pilots a practical and fast way of successively timing different flight stages, thus facilitating navigation. For these reasons this function found several practical applications during WW2.

Truly rare and highly collectible Longines Stop Second vintage watch. This amazing timepiece has been produced in 1936. Steel calatrava case in a 33mm size. Black gilt original dial with the Brevet writing on dial (the patent was released in 1935). The dial font is silver and matches the handset. The movement is the hand wind 12.68z stop second. This beautiful is very rare and it’s a must have for every Longines collector.
