General Overview
Officially released in 1954 the Ug Polerouter was born to commemorate SAS’s (Scandanavian Airlines Systems) polar flights from New York/Los Angeles directly to Europe. Designed by a very young Gerald Genta the Polerouter design, with its twisted lugs, become immediately a milestone.
Equipped at the beginning with the bumper 138SS caliber, then with the Microtor movement the Polerouter was produced until 1969 in a large variety of references and configurations.
Description and Condition Report
Beautiful and rare Universal Geneve Polerouter vintage watch. This Ug watch bearing the ref 20217 it’s the first execution of the Polerouter. The steel case measure 34.5mm. This example comes in unpolished conditions. The twisted lugs are still sharp and the numbers on the caseback are fully readable. As per the first execution the caliber is the well known automatic bumper 138SS. The dial is the black gilt one. Original lume dots.
